
About Bluegrass by the River
The 8th Annual Bluegrass by the River Concert will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the outdoor amphitheater at 2 Witches Winery & Brewing Company at 209 Trade St in Danville, VA - the birthplace of bluegrass legend Tony Rice.
Please join Sheriff Mike Mondul to help raise funds for Project Lifesaver.
The concert will showcase live, Americana
and contemporary bluegrass music.
Opening the concert at 6:00 p.m. will be Jason Talbott and Jay Shelton. Jason is a lifelong guitarist, singer and songwriter who has traveled the world chasing his obsession. Now he is excited to return to his roots, picking with his uncle Jay.
At 6:30 p.m. Turnberry Recording Artists Shelton and Williams featuring the renowned, award-winning Jeanette & Johnny Williams, and well-known artist Jay Shelton will take the stage. Joining them will be Clyde Bailey and Ron Inscore.
Headlining the concert at 8:00 p.m. will be The Lonesome River Band. They are a Grammy nominated American contemporary bluegrass band that continues their reputation as one of the most respected names in bluegrass music. The band has released 15 recording projects since its formation in 1982.
Proceeds will go to our Sheriff's Office's local chapter of Project Lifesaver, a non-profit organization that provides wristbands to quickly locate individuals with cognitive disorders who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. A portion of proceeds will also be donated to Pam Rice, widow of legend Tony Rice.
